Dis-ABILITY Reinvent Series | Finding Dory
During this series we are looking at both the world at large and our understanding of disability through a very distinctive lens – [insert drum roll here] – the lens of film!
We know what you might be thinking, Really?! Movies, you’re getting together virtually to talk about movies? – And the answer is: Yes!
We are hoping for the best possible outcome, that YOU might have a shift on your views and/or understanding of people with disabilities.
Here’s the ‘ticket’ to being able to participate in the discussion:
You’ll watch the selected film any WAY you like, anyWHERE you like with the added bonus of enjoying ANY variety of snacks you like!
Other ‘reel’ helpful tidbits:
1. The film selection is going to be diverse of course! Inclusion doesn’t just apply to people. We’re going to be watching all sorts of different genre’s: animated, action, mystery, thriller etc.
2. Not sure what to look for, or where the movie might be highlighting disability language. Don’t worry we got the perfect thing: a movie map! This is a short, but handy guide to key things (or themes) to keep your eye out for. We’ll be posting the map in the discussions tab for those who don’t like getting lost!
We hope you can join us!
